The Ascension of The Lord

Shared May 19, 2026

As we conclude the Easter season with the joyful celebration of Pentecost, we reflect with gratitude on this past weekend's celebration of the Ascension of the Lord - the moment Christ ascended into Heaven. Christ remains with us always through the Holy Spirit, the Church, and one another; may we carry His message of faith and hope into our communities with renewed purpose and joy.
This week, we celebrate and honor several faithful witnesses of Christ throughout the Church:
✝ St. John I, Pope & Martyr - May 18
✝ St. Bernardine of Siena, Priest - May 20
✝ St. Christopher Magallanes, Priest and Companions, Martyrs - May 21
✝ St. Rita of Cascia, Religious - May 22
We extend a special shout-out and prayers this week to our neighbors and friends at St. Rita of Cascia High School and St. Rita of Cascia - St. Clare of Montefalco Parish as they celebrate their patroness within the greater community surrounding St. Thomas More Mission.
May this week be filled with peace, renewal, and the courage to continue living as disciples of the Risen Christ.
"Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky?" - Acts 1:11 🌅

6th Week of Easter

Shared May 13, 2026

As we prepare for the Ascension of the Lord, the Sixth Week of Easter continues with our rejoicing in the promise of the Risen Christ, who strengthens us to live as witnesses of hope, mercy, and steadfast faith. In these final weeks before the culmination of Easter at Pentecost, the Church invites us to remain rooted in prayer and open our hearts to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, trusting that the Lord continues to renew his people through love and sacrifice.

During this month of Mental Health Awareness, we remember the importance of not only caring for the body, but also for the mind and spirit God has given us. The Easter season reminds us that Christ walks with us through every burden, fear, and uncertainty, offering His peace and comfort even in moments of struggle. As a community of faith, may we continue to support one another with compassion, patience, understanding, and prayer - recognizing the dignity and worth of every person.

This week, we honor the courageous faith of the Martyrs Sts. Nereus & Achilleus and St. Pancras on May 12th for their unwavering devotion to Christ, even in persecution.
On May 13th, we celebrate the special feast of Our Lady of Fatima, recalling the Blessed Mother's call to prayer, repentance, and peace for the world.
We also celebrate the feast of St. Matthias on May 14th, giving thanks for his faithful witness as an apostle of the Lord. We end our week celebrating the feast of St. Isidore on May 15th, recalling his humility and dedication in glorifying God through honest work and service to others.
Also, on May 14th, we celebrate the great feast of the Ascension - when Christ ascended to Heaven and opened the way for us to share in eternal life. Though He returned to the Father, He did not abandon us - instead, He promised the coming of the Holy Spirit and commissioned His disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. We are called to live with our hearts fixed on Heaven while continuing Christ's mission here on earth through prayer, charity, and faithful witness.

This fifth week of Easter invites us to remain rooted in Christ's love, and remember that the joy of the Resurrection is not a single moment, but a promise that continues to unfold in our day-to-day lives. We must continue to bear fruit through our actions and bear witness to hope within our community.
Here at St. Thomas More Mission, the spirit of renewal continues as we prepare to share our May newsletter, filled with reflections on celebrations this month, the saints we venerate, and community happenings which reflect the many ways God works among us. 4th Week of Easter

Shared April 29, 2026

In the Fourth week of Easter, the Church invites us to reflect on one of the most comforting images of Christ: the Good Shepherd. Jesus reminds us that He knows us, calls us by name, and leads us to life. 🌅
Amid the noise of the world, whose voice are you listening to? 💭
"Good Shepherd, You call us each by name. Help us to recognize Your voice above all others. Lead us in faith, guide us in love, and strengthen us to follow You always. Amen." ✝
~
